Ken Powers recently revealed plans for the next phase of the Providence West Development. This is located on the SW corner of SMJ Road and Adams Lane Plaza. The cornerstone of the next phase is set to be completed in the next few months.
Ken provided some specific details regarding when this project was started and how it has gotten to this point. He gave everyone a bit of history as to how it has evolved into a campus best defined as a “hospital without walls” by providing a wide range of medical services all within walking distance. The current 3-story building under construction will be the new home of CU Nursing Program, UMC, Dr King (Dental), TNSM and SPT. Beyond those currently open or under construction, this project will also have a retail component with several of the parcels already closed on or set to close in the near future. The walls are about to go up on a 14,000 SF retail center on SMJ Road to include Martins BBQ, Batteries, and others. As this development unfolds, access roads and amenities such as walking and bike trails will be integrated into the design making it both pedestrian and bicycle friendly. Initial construction will begin with Academy Daycare which will be constructed near the rear of the development.
Next update I will share some exciting things about the new Young Professionals Council recently started by the MJ Chamber. Until then, be sure to keep the 9th Annual “A Toast to Tennessee” Wine Festival on your calendar for Saturday, May 12th at Nashville Shores from 12:00-6:00. A few discounted tickets are still available online at www.atoasttotennessee.com. Groups of at least 20 can still get even deeper discounted tickets while they last. Check out the website for all of the various ticket packages, a complete list of the 20 participating wineries, all of the vendors and artisans, as well as all of the very generous sponsors who help make this great event possible!
Cheers, Mark
