Wilson County Visitor's Bureau The West Wilson Community Arts Alliance was organized by the Mt. Juliet / West Wilson County Chamber of Commerce in 2005. The WWCAA is a non-profit arts advocacy and funding organization whose mission is to encourage, enrich, develop, promote, support, strengthen and celebrate the area's cultural arts environment and to increase community participation and awareness of the arts. The Arts Alliance was formed to give outlets for artists of all kinds. The goal is to establish a number of venues and opportunities which will allow the public to enjoy a wide variety of artistic works. This will, in turn, make Mt. Juliet a better place to live, work and raise our families and offer a more well-rounded quality of life. To date, Choral Dynamics, Encore Theatre Company, the Cedar Creek Band and The Fine Arts Guild have all been organized by the WWCAA. The Music City Star is a 33 mile rail line between downtown Nashville and the city of Lebanon with scheduled stops at each location morning and afternoon. For more info, please contact the Regional Transportation Authority at 862-8833. “A Toast to Tennessee” Wine Festival is held the third Saturday in May at Nashville Shores. This event features over 20 wineries from all across the State of Tennessee, dozens of fine artisans, gourmet specialty food vendors, live music, free wine-related seminars, and free lake cruises. The 4th of July Fireworks celebration is held at Providence MarketPlace and includes live music, food and children's activities. The dazzling fireworks display beginning at 9:00pm. Each fall, Native Americans across the country descend on Mt. Juliet to participate in the Native American Powwow. The two-day festival includes activities such as storytelling, ethnic foods, arts & crafts, a colorful parade, and a dance competition. The Wilson County Fair attracts 400,000+ visitors each August for nine days of fun at the 240-acre James E. Ward Agricultural Center. Entertainment ranges from automobile giveaways and banjo-picking contests to demolition derbies, barbeque cook-offs, photography contests, wine tasting, Civil War re-enactments, tractor pulls, a midway carnival and nonstop music. Pumpkin Hill, 758-5364, on Bender's Ferry Road, is open a few weeks each October and offers hayrides and pumpkins ripe for the picking! At Breeden’s Orchard, 631 Beckwith Road, you can pick your own apples and peaches, watch apple cider being made and visit the pie kitchen, 449-2880. Providence MarketPlace is 830,000 square feet of retail space is anchored by Target, JCPenney, Belk, Kroger, Providence Cinemas, Joann Fabrics, Dick Sporting Goods, PetsMart, Old Navy, Chick-Fil-A, Logan's Roadhouse and many more! Providence 14 Theatres offers state-of-the-art and innovative stadium seating, digital sound, wall-to-wall screens and gourmet concessions. Nashville Superspeedway hosts over 40,000 fans at races four times a year at the 1.33 mile oval track. Races include two NASCAR Busch Series races, a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race and an Indy race. Long Hunter State Park is just south of Mt. Juliet situated on J. Percy Priest Lake and features boating, sailing, fishing, hiking, picknicking, camping, swimming and wildlife observation. Cedar Creek Sports Center offers a driving range, bumper boats, batting cages, putt-putt and an indoor arcade with dozens of games. Horseback riding is offered at the stables at Cedars of Lebanon State Park or Juro Stables in Mt. Juliet. J. Percy Priest Lake and Old Hickory Lake provide a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. Because of the temperate climate and relatively long recreation season, visitors have numerous activities from which to choose, including: swimming, fishing, hunting, camping, picnicking, boating, canoeing, hiking and horseback riding. Tennessee State Park campgrounds Windtree Golf Course and Pine Creek Golf Course provide excellent opportunities for golfing in Mt. Juliet. YOUTH SPORTS Mt. Juliet Youth Football & Cheerleading West Wilson Basketball Association i9 Sports is a youth sports program for boys and girls ages 6-14 which is focused on fun, good sportsmanship and safe play.
